Vacancy Details for BFUHS Medical Officer 2026
The Health Department of Punjab is filling a total of 630 permanent vacancies for the post of Medical Officer (General). This large-scale recruitment offers young doctors a secure and prestigious platform to serve across various government hospitals and community health centers in the state.
Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Candidates interested in applying for the BFUHS Medical Officer vacancy must satisfy the following parameters:
- Academic Qualification: You must possess an MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC/MCI).
- Registration: Valid registration with the Punjab Medical Council or any other State Medical Council / Medical Council of India is compulsory.
- Punjabi Language: Knowledge of Punjabi language up to Matriculation (Class 10) standard is mandatory. If you do not have it at matriculation, you must clear it within 6 months of joining the service.
Age Limit (As on 01-01-2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 37 Years
- Age Relaxation: SC and Backward Classes (BC) of Punjab get a 5-year relaxation (up to 42 years). Physically Handicapped candidates receive a 10-year relaxation (up to 47 years). Other categories will be relaxed according to government regulations.
Salary and Pay Scale
The selected candidates will be hired on a regular basis under 7th Pay Commission Pay Level 9, starting with a basic pay of ₹53,100 per month. In addition to the basic pay, doctors are eligible for official allowances, medical benefits, and regular state increments under the Punjab Civil Services rules.
Selection Process
The selection criteria for BFUHS Medical Officers is direct and merit-based:
- Written Examination: A written test carrying 100 marks will be conducted. Candidates must score a minimum of 33% marks to qualify for merit listing.
- Document Verification / Counselling: Qualified candidates will be called for counselling based on their exam merit rank and reservation category.
