Eligibility Criteria – SSC JE Recruitment 2026
Educational Qualification (as on 22-09-2026)
- Junior Engineer (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical / E&M): Degree or Diploma in the relevant Engineering branch as prescribed by the user organization. Experience, wherever required (BRO, MES, DGQA-NAVAL, DGLL, etc.), must be post-qualification. Internship/training during the course will not be counted.
- Scientific Assistant (IMD): Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics as one of the subjects; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Computer Applications / Electronics / ECE / IT / Instrumentation / Telecommunication / Communication Engineering from a recognized University / Institute.
- JE (Telecom – DoT): Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Electrical / Electronics / Electrical Communications / Computer Science / Telecommunications / IT / Instrumentation from a recognized University or Institute.

Pay Scale & Salary – SSC JE 2026
- Pay Scale: Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission — ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 (Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted).
- In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are entitled to DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, and other Central Government service benefits.
- All posts carry All India Service Liability — candidates may be posted anywhere in India.
SSC JE Exam Pattern 2026
Paper-I (Computer Based Examination)
- Objective type CBT covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and Part A / Part B (Technical subjects: Civil & Structural / Electrical / Mechanical as applicable).
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Purpose: Qualifying in nature — candidates qualifying Paper-I are eligible for Paper-II.
Paper-II (Computer Based Examination)
- Objective type CBT covering technical/discipline-specific subjects in depth.
- Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Final Merit: Based on normalized marks of Paper-II only. Separate merit lists are prepared for different post groups.
